Turning Waste into Treasure, Recovery of Lepidolite Flotation from a Tungsten Tailings by Combination of Collectors

With the rapid development of the new energy industry, the demand for lithium is rapidly increasing. To ensure the key mineral resources, the development and utilization of lepidolite is now becoming extremely urgent. In this paper, according to the run of a lepidolite mine in Jiangxi, the related flotation process has been designed, with oleic acid and cocamine compound as the collector, Na2CO3 as the adjusting agent, sodium silicate as the inhibitor. A lepidolite concentrate with a grade of 1.61% and a recovery of 80.22% was obtained through a closed-circuit experiment of rougher, three concentrations, and two scavenger experiments. The adsorption mechanism was investigated by FTIR spectroscopy, zeta potential, and contact angle tests. FTIR spectroscopy and zeta potential tests showed that the compounded collector can be adsorbed on the surface of lepidolite. The results of contact angle tests showed that the complexed collector was more effective in improving the hydrophobicity of the lepidolite surface.
