Technical Application of Recovery Nickel and Molybdenum from Nickel-Molybdenum Ore by Shearing-Enhanced Ammonia Leaching

Nickel-molybdenum ore (Ni-Mo ore) is a valuable resource with abundant reserves. However, the complexity of its mineral composition and structure poses significant challenges to its industrial application. This paper proposes a shearing-enhanced ammonia leaching process for the effective and simultaneous extraction of nickel and molybdenum from Ni-Mo ore, with solvent extraction and ion exchange employed for their recovery. Optimal leaching conditions are a temperature of 50°C, O2 flow rate of 0.8 L/min, shear speed of 3000 rpm, liquid-to-solid ratio of 8:1, ammonia concentration of 4 mol/L, leaching duration of 7 h, and ammonium carbonate amount is 5% to the Ni-Mo ore. The leaching rates of nickel and molybdenum are 86.60% and 88.52%, respectively. The contents of nickel and molybdenum in the leaching residue were only 0.51% and 0.48%. The concentration of nickel sulfate obtained through solvent extraction was 60.86 g/L, while the content of molybdenum in the ammonium molybdate obtained by ion exchange was 54.11%.
