摘要

Diagnostics in a sleep laboratory are often prone to disruption. Sometimes the medical history is incomplete and important information is missing. Patients may not tolerate the electrodes and cables or they may switch off devices, take sleeping pills beforehand, or engage in nocturnal activities that can distort the results of polysomnography and polygraphy. Difficulties can also arise in the treatment of respiratory disorders in the home environment, such as incorrect use of devices and materials. The article presents numerous practical examples of such problems and suggests possible solutions. Close cooperation between the various specialist disciplines is required in diagnostics and therapy planning. On the one hand, medical technical and nursing staff have the task of obtaining important information from conversations with patients and incorporating this into the medical history. On the other hand, they can make an important contribution to the success of diagnostic and therapeutic measures by providing guidance, advice, and support to patients.
