Enhanced Photocurrent of Electrodeposited Copper Oxide Films Doped with Solution-Processable Organic Cationic Dye as a Dopant
摘要
Copper oxide (Cu2O) is a promising p-type semiconductor due to its low cost, environmental stability. However, increasing the crystallinity of Cu2O thin film has been a challenge. In this study, high-quality Cu2O thin film is successfully fabricated via electrodeposition method under ambient conditions, eliminating the need for vacuum environment. Finally, the organic cationic dye, crystal violet (CV), is doped onto Cu2O in two forms (thermal deposition and solution process). Both doping methods involve converting the dopants from colored to leuco form. After doping, the contact between Cu2O and the electrode transitions from a Schottky contact to Ohmic-like and Ohmic contact. And it induces enhanced current in the semiconductor Cu2O under light stimulation for photosensor applications through light absorption and photon generation. Through morphological analysis of different distribution patterns of dopants and optical characterization, solution reduced CV-doped photosensor emerges as the photosensor exhibiting the highest optical performance. This technology suggests the potential for cheap and effective photosensor fabrication and the device to be utilized in various optical applications with good ohmic contact.
