Background <p>Gait problems in patients with spinal sagittal imbalance (SSI) pose significant challenges that often persist even after surgical intervention. Identifying movement disorders preoperatively and addressing them postoperatively is crucial to improving patient outcomes. Despite advances in surgical techniques, many patients continue to experience gait abnormalities and need for objective assessment methods. The aim of this study was to compare the spatiotemporal parameters of SSI patients before and after surgery using inertial measurement sensor (IMU) data.</p> Methods <p>60 patients with SSI were evaluated both before and three months after surgery with a control group. The evaluation was performed using an IMU-based system, which was used to calculate gait parameters.</p> Results <p>Findings showed that most SSI patients showed significant impairments compared to the control group during walking, both preoperatively and postoperatively. While improvement in gait patterns was observed in a limited number of patients after surgery, many patients still showed similar behavior to preoperatively.</p> Conclusion <p>The continued lack of improvement in gait parameters in SSI patients postoperatively suggests the need for greater attention to the lower extremities. While surgical correction addresses spinal alignment, it does not necessarily resolve the associated gait disturbances.</p>

Background

Gait problems in patients with spinal sagittal imbalance (SSI) pose significant challenges that often persist even after surgical intervention. Methods
