摘要

Threat management by police agencies is a relatively young discipline. Its distribution, however, has markedly increased over the recent years. In multidisciplinary teams, psychologists and police officers perform evidence-based risk assessments which, in turn, lay the basis for interventions in order to minimize the individual risk. This approach differs from the traditional criminal prognosis especially with respect to its primary objective, as well as the extent, type and variability of the underlying information. This article describes the potentials and limits of threat management performed by police agencies using the example of PeRiskoP, a concept implemented in the North Rhine-Westphalian police in order to prevent acts of severe targeted violence. Based on this description, recommendations for research and practice are presented.
