摘要

Only around half of the treatment of patients committed under § 64 of the German Criminal Code (treatment for offenders with substance use disorder) are successfully completed. So far, quantitative methods have been used to identify factors predicting premature termination. Our study aims to contribute to qualitative research using open question formats with patients who expressed a wish to terminate treatment or for whom such an outcome was suggested by the treating teams and members of the treatment team were also interviewed. A total of 17 patients and 14 staff members were included. The interviews were thematically analyzed. Staff mainly criticized a lack of motivation but saw support and a sense of achievement as positive influencing factors. For the patients support, especially a reliable therapeutic relationship and satisfaction with the general conditions of the accommodation, also played an important role.
