<p>In a&#xa0;correctional system that is oriented towards reintegration, short leaves play a&#xa0;crucial role and are regularly implemented. Decisions on permission for short leaves arise based on the risk of violence and elopement. For assessing the risk of violence, several tools have been established; however, for assessing the risk of absconding, there are no validated specific tools available in German-speaking regions. For this purpose Marshall and Usinger from the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, developed the Waypoint Elopement Risk Scales (WERS), which showed promising results in the original sample. The three scales (WERS-Historical, WERS-Stable, WERS-Acute) were translated by the authors into German. Thus, these scales can be used in decisions on short leave to more precisely predict the risk of absconding. Data in terms of a&#xa0;replication study are currently being collected in a&#xa0;forensic sample and will be published at a&#xa0;later date.</p>
