<p>The Echinostomatidae is one of the most numerous digenean families. Recent molecular studies indicate that it requires a complete revision. However, this is currently impossible because few echinostomatids have been molecularly characterised. During the parasitological survey of European coot <i>Fulica atra</i> taken in European and Asian parts of Russia, we found echinostomatid digeneans morphologically identified as <i>Echinostoma grande</i> Bashkirova, 1946, <i>Echinostoma</i> cf. <i>sarcinum</i> Dietz, 1909 and <i>Echinostoma bancrofti fulicae</i> Macko, 1968. Here we provide the descriptions and illustrations of these parasites and report the results of their phylogenetic analysis based on markers of nuclear (<i>28S rRNA</i> gene and ITS2 region) and mitochondrial (<i>cox1</i> and <i>nd1</i> genes) DNA. Our analyses indicated that only <i>E. grande</i> clustered with the true representatives of <i>Echinostoma</i> Rudolphi, 1809. <i>Echinostoma bancrofti fulicae</i> appeared as a member of the genus <i>Neomoliniella</i> Vainutis, Voronova, Andreev &amp; Shchelkanov, 2023 and is probably conspecific with its type species <i>Neomoliniella longicorpa</i> Vainutis, Voronova, Andreev &amp; Shchelkanov, 2023. The phylogenetic position of <i>Echinostoma</i> cf. <i>sarcinum</i> was equivocal but without support as a member of <i>Echinostoma</i> by all markers, which means that its generic attribution must be reconsidered, too.</p>

Phylogeny and morphology of some Palearctic echinostomatid digeneans from rallid bird Fulica atra Linnaeus, 1758
