<p>Two new species of the <i>Onthophagus clypeatus</i> species group are described from Mexico in the present study: <i>Onthophagus totutlaensis</i> Sánchez Huerta, Moctezuma and Halffter, sp. n. (northern Puebla) and <i>Onthophagus xiquenus</i> Moctezuma, Sánchez-Huerta and Halffter, sp. n. (central Veracruz). Photographic illustrations of adult habitus and genital structures, and an updated distributional map are provided. The taxonomical relationships of species allied to the <i>O. clypeatus</i> species group are discussed.</p>
