<p>Vector-borne diseases (VBDs) continue to pose a critical public health challenge, especially in tropical and subtropical regions, with mosquitoes serving as the primary vectors. While chemical repellents and environmental factors have been extensively studied, the role of diet in modulating mosquito behavior remains underexplored, despite evidence suggesting that diet-induced changes in human body odor can affect mosquito attraction. Understanding mosquito attraction to humans is pivotal for developing effective prevention strategies. This literature review explores the role of human diet in influencing mosquito attraction through changes in body odor composition, focusing on various dietary components such as alcoholic beverages, garlic, spicy foods, bananas, and citrus fruits. It shows that certain foods, like beer and bananas, increase human attractiveness to mosquitoes by elevating the production of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as lactic acid and ethanol, which are key attractants. Conversely, foods like garlic and citrus fruits, rich in sulphur-containing compounds and limonene, respectively, show potential repellent effects by disrupting mosquitoes' olfactory systems. The review highlights the possibility of leveraging dietary interventions as a non-chemical approach to complement current VBD control strategies. Future research should focus on elucidating the biochemical mechanisms behind dietary influence on mosquito behavior, with the potential to inform integrated public health recommendations for reducing mosquito-borne disease transmission.&#xa0;</p>
