Clinical observation of treating children’s eczema of spleen deficiency with dampness accumulation pattern with pediatric Tuina plus traditional Chinese herbal bath
摘要
To observe the effect of pediatric Tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage) plus traditional Chinese herbal bath on children with eczema of spleen deficiency with dampness accumulation pattern.
MethodsA total of 90 children with eczema of spleen deficiency with dampness accumulation pattern were divided into a Tuina group, an herbal bath group, and a combined group according to different treatment methods, with 30 cases in each group. The combined group received pediatric Tuina therapy of the “Yi He San Qing” method (harmonizing the spleen and clearing Feijing, Dachang, and Xiaochang) plus a traditional Chinese herbal bath with decoction of modified Xiao Feng San (wind-dispersing powder) and Yu Ping Feng San (jade wind-barrier powder). The Tuina group only received pediatric Tuina therapy of the “Yi He San Qing” method. The herbal bath group only received traditional Chinese herbal bath therapy. After treatment, the clinical efficacy of the three groups was compared; the changes in clinical symptom scores, serum levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE), interleukin (IL)-2, and IL-6, as well as the recurrence rate and incidence of adverse reactions, were recorded.
ResultsAfter treatment, the combined group exhibited superior clinical efficacy compared to the Tuina and herbal bath groups (P<0.05). Additionally, the eczema area and severity index (EASI), pruritus severity score, accompanying symptom score, total symptom score, and serum levels of IgE, IL-2, and IL-6 were significantly reduced in all three groups (P<0.05), with the combined group showing the lowest levels (P<0.05). The recurrence rate of the combined group was lower than that of the Tuina group and the herbal bath group (P<0.05). No adverse reactions such as drug eruption, pain, allergy, or skin atrophy occurred in any of the three groups.
ConclusionPediatric Tuina of “Yi He San Qing” method plus traditional Chinese herbal bath with decoction of modified Xiao Feng San and Yu Ping Feng San exerts a better curative effect than monotherapy with either intervention in the treatment of pediatric eczema of spleen deficiency with dampness accumulation pattern. This method can alleviate clinical symptoms while regulating serum levels of IgE, IL-2, and IL-6, with favorable safety and stable efficacy.
