Economic growth and regional convergence in interwar Poland: detailed historical national accounts
摘要
We present the first national, regional, and sectoral GDP estimates for interwar Poland. Our estimates indicate that the economy performed substantially better than is commonly assumed. Between 1924 and 1938, real GDP per capita rose by 41%, or 2.5% per year. Because growth was faster in poorer regions, the country experienced substantial regional convergence. These findings challenge the prevailing narrative of weak interwar performance.
