摘要

The current review explored the literature as to why weight loss (WL) after metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) is not always the best indicator of improved mental health (MH). We explored the post-MBS mental health trajectories and the MH-WL dissociation, acknowledging the variability in MH trajectories and their uncertain relationship with WL. After MBS, weight loss patterns and MH trajectories exhibit independence. The review outlines some gaps in the literature as well as potential future directions.
