Comparative Failure Analysis of APS-YSZ Thermal Barrier Coatings With and Without Co Containing NiCrAlY Bond Coat Under Cyclic Salt and High-Temperature Corrosion
摘要
The addition of Co is generally considered an effective strategy to enhance the corrosion resistance of metals. In this work, the service failure behaviors of two commercial thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems, with and without a Co bond coat, were comparatively investigated under a mimicked marine environment (pH = 3) through cyclic room-temperature acidic salt and high-temperature hot corrosion. The results reveal that both TBC systems exhibit similar failure modes, with the bond coat preferentially corroded and cracks penetrating through the ceramic top coat and the thermally grown oxide layer at spallation.
