<p>Due to the influence of unstable factors during the casting process, the initially casting section of pipeline steel continuous casting slabs contains large particle inclusions, which affects the quality of the as-cast slabs and may lead to product downgrading or customer objections after rolling. This investigation analyzes the relationship between different casting lengths total oxygen content (T.O) in the steel and inclusion levels in hot-rolled coils of pipeline steel continuous casting slabs. The results indicate that within the first 6 m of the slab, the T.O content is high, ranging between 0.0030 and 0.0045%, while beyond 6 m, T.O falls below 0.0030%, approaching the stable casting level. Additionally, Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> inclusions exceed the standard within the first 4 m of the hot-rolled coil. Based on these findings, a standard dimension for the head slab in the casting sequence has been established.</p>
