Hot Deformation Characteristics and Hot Processing Map Analysis of Cu-Nb Composite Wires Reinforced by Niobium Strip

In this study, the hot deformation behaviors of Cu-Nb composites reinforced by niobium strip were investigated by hot tensile test at temperatures from 600 to 780 °C and strain rates from 0.001 to 1 s−1. The microstructure evolution of Cu-Nb composites reinforced by niobium strip were analyzed by SEM and EBSD. The results show that the adiabatic shear bands were formed during the hot deformation at high strain rate and high temperature, which were very easy to crack. However, the dynamic recrystallization of material was significant at the low strain rate and high temperature, and the equiaxed crystal structures were formed. The hot processing maps of Cu-Nb composites based on the dynamic material model were drawn and analyzed, it was shown that the safe and unstable regions of plastic processing were quantitatively analyzed, and the high-temperature deformation mechanism of Cu-Nb composites was revealed.
