<p>Magnetoimpedance (MI) measurements were carried out on permalloy-coated Co<sub>77</sub>Si<sub>5</sub>Cu<sub>1</sub>Nb<sub>2</sub>B<sub>15</sub> melt-spun ribbons prepared with and without sodium saccharin in an electrodeposition bath. Larger MI values were observed in the permalloy-deposited ribbon with the sodium saccharin additive in the electrolyte bath than in the ribbon without the additive. Controlled Joule annealing was performed on the samples to further tune the MI ratio. After Joule annealing, these additive-assisted permalloy-coated ribbons exhibited the highest MI (57% at 8&#xa0;MHz) values among all ribbons examined in the present work due to stress relaxation, fine grain refinement, smoother surface, and lower electrical resistivity.</p>
