<p>This study investigates boron’s effect on 22MnB5 strip-cast steel. Sub-rapid solidified steels with high and low boron were prepared using dip tester simulations. High boron increased driving forces in theory, generating BN and (B, Ti)(C, N) complex precipitates in hot-rolled microstructures, which promoted ferrite formation, creating martensite/ferrite dual phases. Hereby, it induced the hot-rolling cracks and mechanical property deterioration. Conclusively, the boron addition promoted precipitation-induced phase transformations and processing defects in strip-cast hot-stamping steels.</p>
