<p>This article examines emotional processes from an interpersonal perspective. Starting with the question of whether emotions are primarily biologically determined or socially constructed, various theories of emotion are compared and contrasted. Based on these considerations, the emotional development from affects to emotions to feelings in the “child-caregiver” role configuration is outlined, with sociocultural findings being presented and discussed.</p>
