Befragung der multiplen Wissenskrise: Radikale Demokratietheorie als Praxis kritischer Normativität
摘要
The contemporary multiple knowledge crisis sets under pressure both democracy and democracy theory. Radical democratic approaches in particular must see themselves confronted with the accusation according to which “truth-sceptical” approaches, embracing a contingency-centred and hence post-objectivist conception of truth, fuelled this very crisis. In this article, I argue, contrary to these views, that it is precisely the post-fundamentalist movement of thought constitutive of radical democratic theory that opens up a critical-normative mode of questioning through whose lens the knowledge crisis’ ambivalent discourses can be exposed with regard to their democracy-subversive potentials. To this end, I establish radical democratic theory as a practice of critical normativity by situating it at the discursive nexus between the rejection of universal normativity on the one hand and the necessity of critical-normative positioning on the other. The core argument holds that radical democratic theory as a critical stance does by no means generate a realm of epistemic arbitrariness, simply because it points to the socio-historical-political emergence of knowledge orders. Instead, precisely because it conceptualizes the constitutive openness of the political, its inception as a questioning practice against both the “post-truth” regime, as well as its contemporary counter-epistemisations is rendered possible.
