<p>The author examines the necessary processes of change that arise from the transition from working life to retirement or the post-working period. Like all major transitions in the life course, this one is also accompanied by or threatened with crises, and some individuals seek support through counseling. Drawing on Erikson’s model of the psychosocial development of human identity and drawing on experiences from coaching practice, the author examines various problems and questions associated with this transition. Furthermore, the changing sources of meaning for this phase of life are explored to help individuals recognize the own value of this phase.</p>
