<p>This paper examines the application of agility in higher education institutions in response to increasing challenges in the higher education environment. The aim is to evaluate publicly communicated information on program development to understand how agility is used in higher education practice and to identify differences in its application across different types of higher education institutions. In the empirical study, useful documents from university websites are first identified and then examined for the presence of agility using a&#xa0;qualitative content analysis. The results show that of the 423 universities analyzed, 77&#xa0;demonstrate the practical use of agility in course development. A&#xa0;subsequent comparative analysis between types of higher education institutions shows potential for improvement of agility in practice.</p>
