摘要

Background

Numerous factors such as a lack of exercise, obesity, and stress can have a negative impact on health and increase the risk of physical and mental illness. To counteract this, the German pension insurance (Deutsche Rentenversicherung) offers its members the prevention program RV Fit. The response to RV Fit has been consistently positive, but the demand is significantly higher than the existing supply. For these reasons, RV Fit Kompakt was developed. In this version, the training phase can be carried out via app and is therefore independent of time and location.

Objective

The study evaluated whether a digital training phase is a good alternative to face-to-face training.

Materials and methods

The study was designed as a multicenter, nonrandomized controlled trial. At the start, participants in the prevention program had the option of choosing between a digital training phase via an app (RV Fit Kompakt) and a face-to-face training phase (RV Fit). Data were collected using questionnaires at three measurement timepoints: 1) during the start phase, 2) at the end of the training phase, and 3) at the end of the self-activity phase or during the refresher course. These data were supplemented by the results of sports medicine assessments at the beginning and end of the program.

Results

A total of 74 people took part in the study. The results show that the exercise habits and stress management of both groups improved over time. The participants’ endurance performance, mobility, and leg strength also improved significantly (p < 0.001), regardless of which group they belonged to.

Conclusion

RV Fit Kompakt is an effective and well-accepted alternative to the conventional training phase of the RV Fit program.
