摘要

Background

Students in higher education face specific problems and structural hurdles in the visibility of regional health-promoting offers. The aim of this study was to develop and implement a needs-based information strategy for health-promoting offers.

Methods

Via an online survey and focus groups, students’ wishes and needs were assessed. Based on the results, a website and a social media channel were developed.

Results

In the online survey, a majority stated that the health area of “stress” and “psychological strain” were relevant topics. The focus groups regarded the university as a provider and interlocutor of preventive health services. Students were insufficiently educated about regional health-promoting offers. They chose to search for such offers via the internet in a rather unsystematic manner. Via the website that went online in November 2023, regional services are presented graphically. According to the number of visitors, the homepage was well received. As of June 2022 the Instagram channel has reached over 16,700 accounts.

Conclusions

Universities are called upon to act as a provider of health-promoting offers and to provide information about health-promoting offers. Students health management (SGM) initiatives are often times temporarily funded. Consolidating these projects can help to promote health literacy and contribute to the profile building of the university. Additionally there is the need for a target-group-specific digital information strategy by means of a website and a social media channel.
