摘要

This study analysed potato market outlet choices among smallholder producers in the Woliso and Wonchi districts of the Southwest Shoa Zone, Ethiopia. A three-stage sampling technique was employed to select 368 potato producers, and data were collected using structured questionnaires complemented by secondary sources. Descriptive statistics indicate that producers sold potatoes to wholesalers (51.63%), retailers (52.72%), collectors (45.92%), and consumers (42.39%). The results from the multivariate probit model reveal that market outlet choice is significantly influenced by age, sex, land allocated to potato production, quantity supplied, distance to the nearest market, livestock ownership, and access to credit. Based on these findings, the study recommends strengthening input supply systems, improving rural–urban infrastructure, establishing nearby potato markets, and expanding access to credit services to enhance producers’ market access and decision-making.
