<p>The growing need for working professionals to solve comprehensive real-world problems and the changes brought about by digital technologies in society have highlighted the significance of developing university students’ creativity. Studies have proposed that personality traits and basic psychological needs influence students’ creativity development. However, few studies have comprehensively examined the effects of personality traits and psychological needs support on creativity. We investigated how students’ personality traits and psychological needs satisfaction impact their creativity in a technology-rich university context. A stratified sample of 323 students from 10 universities completed a questionnaire regarding their personality traits, basic psychological needs satisfaction, and creativity. We used structural equation modelling to test the relationship between these constructs. Our results revealed that different personality traits influenced students' basic psychological need satisfaction in various ways. For instance, the psychological needs of autonomy and relatedness positively influenced creativity. In addition, the psychological needs of autonomy and relatedness mediated the relationship between personality traits and creativity.</p>

Creativity in University Students: The Role of Personality Traits and Basic Psychological Needs in the Digital Context
