摘要

This study demonstrates the design and performance of a portable trapezoidal–stepped spoof-printed antenna-tailored for wideband personal communication services, showcasing a strong correlation between simulated and observed results and achieving low return loss. The proposed wideband trapezoidal–stepped patch antenna incorporates a parasitic element positioned on the substrate adjacent to the patch, operating effectively within the downlink and uplink frequency ranges of the T-GSM-810 band and Personal Communications Services 1900 (PCS 1900) band. Antenna design integrates two asymmetrical trapezoidal steps with the rectangular patch, complemented by two T-shaped slits carved into the opposing non-radiating edges of the patch. This innovative configuration enables dual-band coverage at 810 MHz and 1900 MHz, alongside a wideband operation from 1.6 to 2.2 GHz. Simulations were executed utilizing Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave Studio, ensuring accurate modeling and execution. Fabricated on an FR4 substrate, the antenna achieves an impressive impedance bandwidth of 14.56% (118 MHz) with a return loss of − 16.91 dB at center frequency of 810 MHz, and a bandwidth of 31.47% (598 MHz) at center frequency of 1900 MHz. The findings underscore a remarkable alignment between the antenna’s simulated and measured performances regarding impedance bandwidth, return loss, and radiation characteristics. Furthermore, the antenna exhibits superior performance compared to several established designs, reinforcing its potential as an efficient solution for modern communication systems.
