摘要

Acycle is a comprehensive, user-friendly software package for analyzing geological time-series. Here I introduce Acycle version 2.8, a major update that extends the original v1.0 with expanded data handling and improved Graphical User Interface (GUI) design to streamline end-to-end analysis. Version 2.8 integrates core functionality for data preprocessing (including detrending), recurrence analysis, and a broad suite of spectral methods, including significance testing of spectral peaks using false discovery rate control to address multiple testing issues common in cyclostratigraphy. The software also includes advanced (paleo)climate and stratigraphic tools such as evolutionary harmonic analysis, wavelet, coherence, filtering, and stratigraphic correlation. Key new modules and enhancements in v2.8 include support for multi-column datasets, automatic estimation of Amplitude Modulation (AM) via the Hilbert transform, and improved moving-window analyses for unevenly spaced series, alongside performance optimizations and user-requested features such as multi-language support. These updates make Acycle a more powerful and versatile platform for geoscience research and education. A paleoclimate case study demonstrates how Acycle v2.8 facilitates a typical workflow from data preparation through spectral analysis and tuning. In addition, this paper presents standardized recommendations for reporting data and parameters; following these recommendations will improve the reproducibility and reliability of research results.
