摘要

Tropical cyclones (TCs) are one of the major disastrous weather systems globally, China is one of the countries most severely affected by TCs and associated disasters. In recent years, China has made significant progress in various aspects of TC disaster prevention and mitigation, including the compilation of fundamental TC data, real-time monitoring, accurate forecasting, and progressive warning services. China also participates deeply in international TC governance. However, in practical TC disaster prevention and mitigation work, fundamental issues persist, such as the “use of different averaging periods for defining the maximum sustained wind near the TC center across different countries”. This paper provides a brief overview of these issues and preliminary explores potential solutions, aiming to identify directions for further enhancing TC disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities.
