<p>Shortly after their introduction, automated insulin delivery systems (AID systems) have become an integral part of type&#xa0;1 diabetes therapy. The scientific evidence of the benefits of AID systems is convincing. Compared to conventional insulin therapy, the time in range can be significantly improved across all user groups, the risk of hypoglycemia lowered, and the burden reduced. However, the complex systems also pose challenges for people and technology, which research, users, and specialist staff must face up to. However, these are outweighed by the immense benefits, with the result that AID has become the gold standard treatment for people with type&#xa0;1 diabetes in recent years.</p>
