<p>Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the most common complications of pregnancy and requires careful management to minimize risks to mother and infant. Modern technologies such as continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems, health apps, and electronic diaries offer innovative approaches to supporting women with GDM and have become indispensable in everyday life. Continuous glucose monitoring systems for pregnant women have been approved since 2017. However, CGM systems are not yet recommended for routine GDM care. The studies conducted so far show no relevant improvements in GDM-associated complications, but they do show greater user satisfaction and less weight gain during pregnancy. Health apps and digital health applications (DiGAs) also show potential for GDM care. Studies show that apps improve compliance and glucose averages and reduce the risk of caesarean sections and macrosomia. However, DiGAs specifically for GDM do not yet exist. Continuous glucose monitoring systems and apps can promote treatment adherence, enable personalized treatment strategies, and increase the wellbeing of patients. However, challenges such as costs, training requirements, and data security require careful implementation.</p>
