This applies, for example, to blood glucose meters, real time continuous glucose monitoring (rtCGM) systems, smart pens and insulin pumps, as well as the internal batteries of these devices or their control units. Although no generally valid therapy recommendations can be derived, people with diabetes can follow some recommendations to protect technical aids from heat so that the measurement quality and delivery accuracy are maintained as far as possible. To date, there has been a&#xa0;lack of large-scale scientific studies investigating the functionality of these systems for maximum possible tolerance ranges regarding temperature. Increases in average temperatures and extreme weather events are expected worldwide. In the future, it must be ensured that the safety of diabetes technologies can withstand these changes.</p>
