<p>Anxiety disorders and depression are among the most prevalent and disabling mental health conditions globally, profoundly impairing both individual well-being and societal functioning. Recent research has elucidated key neurobiological underpinnings of these disorders, including neurotransmitter imbalances, dysregulation of stress response systems, and dysfunctions within neural circuits governing emotion regulation. These insights offer significant potential for refining diagnostic approaches, enhancing prevention strategies, and improving therapeutic interventions. While conventional pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy have shown efficacy in managing anxiety and depression, their limitations underscore the urgent need to deepen understanding of the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms and to develop more targeted and personalized therapies. This review synthesizes recent progress in delineating the neurobiological, genetic, and psychosocial mechanisms contributing to anxiety and depression. It further evaluates current therapeutic strategies, encompassing both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, to offer an integrated perspective on treatment paradigms. By bridging foundational scientific research with clinical applications, this review aims to inform future investigations and facilitate the development of more effective, individualized therapeutic approaches to improve patient outcomes.</p>
