<p>With the development of the tourism industry, the associated carbon dioxide emissions have become considerable, significantly impacting global climate change. This study will compile relevant publications from various fields in recent years on sustainable tourism and climate change, and analyse the hot issues in this field based on the bidirectional relationship between the tourism industry and climate change. Firstly, based on the research framework of the bidirectional relationship between tourism and climate change, the impact of the tourism industry on climate change was measured from the perspective of tourist carbon footprint in four aspects. Simultaneously, the effects of climate change on the tourism industry were summarized. Subsequently, bibliometric methods are employed to analyse the literature in this field in recent years. Finally, combining qualitative and quantitative review results, the study presents feasible suggestions for future research directions, highlighting potential avenues for further investigation from both technical and policy perspectives.</p>
