<p>This research addresses the critical need to reduce carbon footprints in higher education institutions (HEIs). While many HEIs have adopted sustainability practices and embedded sustainability-related content into their curricula, assessing and mitigating their carbon emissions is equally essential. This study evaluates the sustainability of UCSI University Kuala Lumpur by measuring its total carbon footprint using the GHG Protocol as the framework. Four primary sources of emissions were examined: electricity consumption, water usage, diesel for university-owned transportation, and waste disposal. The analysis covers data from 2022 to 2023. The results show that despite the extensive programs and initiatives carried out in the period under review, the university’s CO<sub>2</sub> emissions have increased. This upward trend highlights the need for more effective mitigation strategies. The study suggests several approaches for UCSI to reduce its carbon emissions, including expanding solar panel installations, offsetting carbon emissions, adopting green buses, and strengthening waste management governance. These strategies aim to promote sustainability within the university and contribute to broader environmental goals.</p>
