Paradoxes of implementing AI-augmented HRM in the workplace: A systematic literature review and future research agenda
摘要
Despite the enthusiasm among researchers to explore the shifting paradigms in the workplace, a dearth of studies elucidating the comprehensive picture of AI-HRM. The paradoxes of “AI-augmented human resource management” (AI-HRM) must be well understood to maximise its normative potential. Therefore, we employed a systematic literature review (SLR) of the existing articles published in top-tier journals. A total of 53 articles has been considered for the review. The current study employs the TCCM approach for a comprehensive understanding and technological frame of reference to chart inconsistencies among developers, deployers, managers, job seekers and employees. The study employs technological frame of reference that illuminates incongruent values or valence (positive and negative) attached by stakeholders to implementing AI-augmented HRM. A unified conceptual framework that highlights technology, organizational and environment factors as dominant antecedents of implementing AI-augmented HRM is proposed in the study advancing the literature. Additionally, we propose that effective revenue growth, employee productivity, employee engagement, and effectiveness in recruitment are the major outcomes of AI-HRM. Further contribution of the study includes developing a taxonomy of incentives and pitfalls at the technology and employee levels in the organisation. The silver bullet of the current SLR lies in future research avenues. The current study set the stage for future scholars by offering a research agenda in the AI-HRM domain.
