Flower Shaped Conformal Antenna with Defected Ground Plane for Vehicular Communication
摘要
A novel conformal antenna for vehicle communication in the n 260 band (37–40 GHz) is presented in this study. The antenna has a compact design with a defective ground plane that measures 1.75 λ x 2.12 λ x 0.0312 λ, where λ is defined for the proposed antenna’s resonating band at a center frequency of 37 GHz. It achieves an impressive efficiency of 93% and a maximum gain of 17.354 dBi. Finite and defective ground plane studies are also part of the investigation. The proposed model is benchmarked against the annular ring using circuit modeling. The antenna is fabricated and experimentally verified using measurements and simulations. Furthermore, under different bent radii on air dielectric, the conformal design is investigated. This antenna is mounted on a polypropylene cylinder having a profile resembles to that of the plastic materials frequently used in cars. In this work, the influence of changes in the plastic cylinder’s dielectric on the antenna characteristics is studied. The results, showing good agreement, confirm the antenna feasibility for applications in vehicle communication.
