A Novel DGS-Integrated Compact Wideband Modified Cloverleaf MIMO Antenna for Multi-Band Wireless Applications
摘要
This article presents a compact design with improved isolation for X-band and ultra-wideband (UWB) and Ku-band applications. The proposed MIMO features two-element rectangular radiators with circular cut at the edges, modified cloverleaf-shaped slots on the radiating elements. Moreover, a novel DGS comprising a compound structure of circular and rectangular slots, ensuring an isolation level > 15 dB and to enhance bandwidth performance. A wideband ranges 3.1 GHz to 18 GHz is achieved with a compact size of 36 × 38 × 1.6 mm3. The antenna is fabricated on an FR-4 epoxy with 1.6 mm thickness, and tanδ = 0.0027. Operating within the frequency band of 3.1–18 GHz the proposed design achieves an impedance bandwidth of 138.85%, making it suitable for UWB, extended UWB, and Ku-band applications. The isolation achieved remains below 15 dB along with strong MIMO key performance metrics such as channel capacity loss, diversity gain, envelope correlation coefficient, and total active reflection coefficient are analysed. The antenna offers a gain ranges 4–6 dBi gain across the operating band. The combination of compact size, strong performance in terms of single element and MIMO configuration makes the proposed work a strong potential for localization, ground-penetrating, biomedical sensing, body area networks, and vehicular radar based diverse communication systems.
