摘要

In wireless networks, radio resources are scarce and limited and radio resource allocation strategies have to ensure high Quality of Service. The set of users that can be scheduled at a given time is defined as multiuser diversity. If sufficient there is statistically, among the number of users, enough of users that experiment constructive multipath fading at any time to provide opportunistic schedulers a spectral efficiency and the system capacity enhancement. In contrast, with limited multiuser diversity transmission time can be compressed in order to save energy. In this study, the influence of multiuser diversity is deeply analyzed. We also show that overlooking multiuser diversity may lead to design sub-optimal solutions or to choose inaccurate simulation parameters leading to misleading performance evaluations of resource allocation solutions.
