摘要

A rectangular-shaped multiple input multiple output (MIMO) patch (RSMP) antenna with L-shape slits has been presented in this paper for 5G wireless communication applications. The RSMP antenna comprises with dual port rectangular common patch configuration. To obtain low mutual coupling and good diversity characteristics between MIMO elements, L-shape slits are placed at the center of a shared rectangular patch antenna. The RSMP antenna resonates at 13.2 GHz, 14.7 GHz, 15.3 GHz, and 16.4 GHz frequencies, and overall impedance bandwidth of 4.6 GHz (13.0 GHz to 17.6 GHz) has been observed. The RSMP antenna exhibits superior characteristics of reflection coefficients of − 34 dB, − 31 dB, − 26 dB, and − 21 dB, respectively, at operating frequencies. Here, both simulated and measured antenna characteristics for the reflection coefficient, gain, radiation pattern, and bandwidth plots are presented. To examine the diversity performance of the proposed antenna, MIMO parameters are also investigated. The simulated and measured results with respect to MIMO antenna parameters are observed and they are agreed for 5G wireless communication applications.
