An integrated independent antenna system for multiradio wireless communication applications

This work aims to provide an integrated independent antenna system suitable for various radio frequency communication applications. This system’s construction entails the amalgamation of multiple independent antennas into a unified system. The proposed integrated antenna system comprises three separate antennas. The antennas include the CR antenna system, consisting of a UWB radiator sensing purpose and a pair of narrow-band communication antennas. The UWB and NB MIMO antenna system, comprising of two UWB radiator and NB radiator antenna. The UWB radiator operates across a bandwidth of 3.1–12 GHz to provide CR sensing and UWB MIMO functions. In the context of CR communication and NB MIMO applications, the NB-A1 antenna operate at frequencies of 3.3 and 5.5 GHz and NB-A2 antenna 3.5, 5, and 7 GHz. The double parallel stub decoupling structure, along with the ground plane, facilitates mutual coupling among MIMO radiators and CR antenna element. The proposed antenna exhibits a reflection coefficient below − 10 dB across operating bands for both UWB and NB antennas, a gain varying from 4–7 dB for UWB and 3–4.2 dB for NB antennas, an efficiency between 90 and 95% for both UWB and NB antennas, and an omnidirectional radiation pattern applicable to both configurations. In assessing the MIMO performance of proposed MIMO antenna systems, the MIMO characteristics utilized include ECC, TARC, CCL, and MEG. The MIMO antenna system has mutual coupling of − 15dB, ECC of less than 0.4, TARC of < − 20 dB, CCL of<0.4 bits/Hz/Sec and MEG of − 3–3 dB.
