Removal of Anionic Dyes from Lightly Colored Solutions with 3D Printed Ultrafiltration PLA Membrane
摘要
3D printing allows us to produce materials of any shape and geometric parameters for various practical applications, particularly for water and wastewater treatment. In this work, the performance of ultrafiltration membrane, which was prepared from polylactic acid (PLA) with fused deposition modelling technique via one stage, was investigated. The zeta-potential of the membrane reaches -4 − -32 mV within the pH interval of 2 − 10 due to end acid group of PLA. The radius of the pores that provide retention was found to be within the interval of 4 − 7 nm. Main regularity of the removal of anionic dyes (Methyl Red, Indigo Carmine, Reactive Black 5) from lightly colored solutions were investigated. Maximal retention is achieved at 1.5 bar (up to 98%) in neutral and alkaline media. NaCl additions have no noticeable effect on retention, the permeate is a colorless solution. The solution permeability achieved 16 − 27 L m−2 h−1 bar−1. No change of pure water permeability was found after the membrane regeneration. The PLA membrane can be applied to post treatment of dying wastewater effluents or decolorization of secondary dying effluents.
