摘要

Water leaks in infrastructure systems are both a socio-economic and a serious engineering problem, and the GPR method can quickly detect such problems without causing environmental damage. For this purpose, this study utilized a holistic approach, incorporating modeling, laboratory, and field studies to obtain, evaluate, and interpret GPR data. First, modeling studies were performed, presenting three distinct model geometries. Various models were designed, and GPR measurements were taken in a laboratory setting to detect different infrastructure elements and identify potential water leakage problems within a test box. In the final stage, GPR measurements were taken at selected pilot sites in Trabzon/Türkiye. The results of this study demonstrate that water leakage areas can be effectively detected using the GPR method without causing environmental damage. This study provides one of the few integrated investigations combining modeling, laboratory experiments, and field measurements to validate GPR-based water leakage detection.
