<p>Nari, a newly registered dual-purpose indigenous cattle breed from Rajasthan’s Sirohi and Pali districts and Gujarat’s Sabarkantha and Banaskantha districts, has shown promising potential for both milk and draft utility. The study systematically documented the Nari breed’s physical and morphometric traits by utilizing data from 700 cattle reared by 160 farmers across the Pali and Sirohi districts of Rajasthan, which were selected as the native breeding tract of the breed. Nari cattle are typically white-coated (71.42%), with distinctive black muzzles (67.4%) and eyelids, and display considerable horn variation—long (78.5%), spirally curved (66.2%) and outward - oriented (70.4%). Head profiles are mostly concave (87.4%) with horizontal ears (91.09%). Overall body confirmation reflects a strong, adaptable phenotype for semi-arid region. Udder and teat traits, such as medium-sized (91.09%), bowl-shaped (66.5%) udders and cylindrical (71%), evenly spaced teats, point toward the breed’s good milking ability. Altogether, the Nari breed demonstrates strong adaptability, reliable productivity and high milk quality, affirming its value as a sustainable and efficient choice for livestock keepers in arid and semi-arid regions.</p>
