摘要

Many and varied social rules or norms structuring human activity can be theorized from different philosophical and scientific perspectives that focus on somewhat different questions about them and use different methods to answer them. For a long time, relatively few attempts have been made to integrate this research. Meanwhile, however, the research has become increasingly interdisciplinary, and the objective of this thematic collection is to perpetuate this salutary trend by allowing thinkers with different theoretical backgrounds to explore this topic in an open-minded, collaborative spirit. This introduction provides a selective overview of some main research issues in this field and outlines how contributions to this collection contribute to them and open up new research vistas.
