摘要

Carnivorous plants (CPs) are a unique group of plants that have adapted for capturing and digesting insects and other animals as a source of nutrients since they grow in nutrient-deficient habitats. They are valuable for humans as ornamental horticulture plants and a source of therapeutic phytochemicals. Most CPs have become rare and endangered due to habitat loss, overexploitation, and pollution. Micropropagation of CPs has played an important role in the large-scale production of these plants which could be used by the horticulture industry as well as for the conservation and restoration of natural habitats. Successful micropropagation of CPs has been achieved using seeds, shoot tip/shoots, leaves, stem, and inflorescence segments. This review summarizes specific factors during the shoot regeneration and rooting of microshoots such as explant source, nutrient media, and plant growth regulators. Applications of the use of liquid cultures and acclimatization of micropropagated plants have also been discussed.
