<p>The vaporization enthalpies of codeine and morphine are evaluated by correlation gas chromatography using alcohols as standards and compared to estimates evaluated entirely by synthetic analysis and group additivity. The experimental results for morphine and the synthetic analysis results for dihydromorphine are then used to estimate the vaporization enthalpies of a series of related opioids, including each other. These include codeine, dihydrocodeine, acetylcodeine, heroin, hydromorphone, and hydrocodone. Results obtained for these opioids by all three methods are compared.</p>
