Influence of Soil Conditions on Engineering Solutions for Earthquake-Resistant Buildings in Makhachkala, Russia
摘要
Seismological data for the Makhachkala region enabled quantitative characterization of ground motion during a maximum credible earthquake (MCE). Zones of potential resonance phenomena were identified as a function of building height, structural system, and soil type. Based on the defined criteria, recommendations were developed for selecting appropriate building types in accordance with local soil conditions.
