摘要

According to statistics from the OpenDOAR (The Directory of Open Access Repositories), Institutional Repositories (IR) have seen rapid growth in recent years. In order to figure out the differences between China’s IR and other countries’ IR and to facilitate the sustainable development of China’s IR, 1392 IRs from the United States, the United Kingdom, India and China (including China’s Mainland and Hong Kong region, Macao region and Taiwan region) were selected for the study. The hierarchical analysis method was used to examine and to make statistics the scale of websites, display degree, number of outbound links, web impact factor, link efficiency, competition potential (Domain Authority), Ranking Keywords and other indicators. The IR scores of each institution were statistically calculated based on the indicator weights. The results indicated that the scores from the Hong Kong and Macao region surpassed those of the United States, followed by the United Kingdom, India, Taiwan region, and finally mainland China. The top IR ranking in China was the University of Hong Kong ranked 507th and the 1st ranked institution in China’s Mainland is the Institutional Repository of the Institute of Earth and Environmental Studies, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IEECAS OpenIR) (ranked 875th overall). It is recommended to attach great importance to the information communication and network development of institutional repositories, strengthen the growth of institutional repository alliances, and strive to build internationally influential institutional repositories.
